Reflow Markdown is a Visual Studio Code Extension originally forked from the Reflow paragraphextension by Troels Damgaard.Instead of targeting any line of text, however it focuses on Markdown filesonly and the specific formatting constructs unique to it such as paragraphs,headings, block quotes, lists, and code blocks.

This extension defaults to reflowing lines to be no more than 80 characters long. I tried fiddling with the following settings but I can't seem to make RM display a 80 column guideline in the editor. Visual Studio Code is a code editor redefined and optimized for building and debugging modern web and cloud applications. Visual Studio Code is free and available on your favorite platform - Linux, macOS, and Windows. Softwrap doesn't help at all, it just adds to the confusion. You can properly format a line so it's readable on multiple lines, like entering one line per object keys, but writing it in one line.

This extension defaults to reflowing lines to be no more than 80 characterslong. The preferred line length may be overridden using the config value ofreflowMarkdown.preferredLineLength.
Extension Settings
This extension contributes the following settings:
reflowMarkdown.preferredLineLength: Set the preferred line length forreflowing paragraph (default:80).reflowMarkdown.doubleSpaceBetweenSentences: Insert two spaces instead ofone between each sentence (defaultfalse).reflowMarkdown.resizeHeaderDashLines: Modifies the length of the ---'s or's under H1s and H2s to be the same length as the header text. If theheader text spans multiple lines, the dashes are set to be the length of thelongest line.reflowMarkdown.wrapLongLinks: Specifies how links will be wrapped when theycause a line to extend beyond the preferred length.
Keyboard Shortcuts

alt+q(default).
-->You can set and clear the Word wrap option. When this option is set, the portion of a long line that extends beyond the current width of the Code Editor window is displayed on the next line. When this option is cleared, for example, to facilitate the use of line numbering, you can scroll to the right to see the ends of long lines.

To set word wrap preferences
On the Tools menu, select Options.
In the Text Editor folder, choose the General options in the All Languages subfolder to set this option globally.

Choose the General options in the subfolder for the language in which you are programming.
Under Settings, select or clear the Word wrap option.
When the Word wrap option is selected, the Show visual glyphs for word wrap option is enabled.
Select the Show visual glyphs for Word Wrap option if you prefer to display a return-arrow indicator where a long line wraps onto a second line. Clear this option if you prefer not to display indicator arrows.
